NewsCommissioner Daines Takes a Stand At the March 8 Symposium: "Taking Action Against Obesity A Sugar-Sweetened Beverage Tax for New York State", Commissioner Daines spoke about the need for the tax in an informative and humorous presentation. The symposium was sponsored by the New York Academy of Medicine. "The dramatic under-pricing, ubiquitous availability, and ceaseless marketing of sugary beverages constitute a stumbling block to the health and success of many of our brothers and sisters, and are a clear and present danger to the future of our children."
