Policy CommitteePurpose/MissionThe Policy Committee's charge is to work collaboratively to provide updates to the Steering Committee and general membership on legislation relevant to the Consortium and the Comprehensive Cancer Control Plan. The committee will also develop an advocacy agenda, policies and procedures for statewide communication of the agenda, and will be a resource to other committees as needed. Through activities such as monitoring legislation and working with other committees and the Cancer Center Directors Advisory Group, the Policy Committee may recommend positions on legislation, in particular those which would reduce the human and economic burden of cancer in New York State. The advocacy agenda is fluid and subject to change as scientific research and cost effective standards of care and evidence based best practices present new opportunities for reducing the cancer burden in the State.
